About Karl

Songs, roots, & souls

After 40 years writing, editing, recovering from carpal-tunnel and Dupuytrens  treatments, he began to relearn his guitar, sharpen his songwriting, and form a series of  cosmic country folk-rock bands, notably Western Weeds and Lazy K Rancheros.

His album “Roads I’m Taking” is a new folk-rock itinerary powered by flute, piano,  organ and tasty Western guitar by Wes Weddell. The record was produced by Alicia Healey at The Winterblue Room in Seattle.

A former editor of The Rocket and Santa Cruz Good Times, Karl followed blues and rock bands up and down the West Coast. After surviving the 1989 earthquake, he began his 25-year career at The Seattle Times.
